Happy Autumn!
Now that the cold/flu season is here the following tips might be useful:
1.The State Dept of Health is urging everyone over the age of 6 months
to get a Flu vaccine-you can get one at most of you local pharmacies,or
several flu clinics that are run in the area,or your physician's office.
2.Please do not send your child into school if they are running a fever
of 100-or above, are coughing excessively,or having large amounts of
nasal drainage. For mild coughing you may send them to school with a
note of permission for cough drops and the cough drops they will be
using. The cough drops are kept in the health room.
3. If your child remains febrile, and is acting lethargic, and not eating well, call your physician.
4.For most colds you can help your child by giving them children's
tylenol, ibuprofen or advil for discomfort and fever. Make sure they are
getting plenty of sleep (8-10 hrs), and eating well-if not hungry make
sure they have a lot of fluids. They should not return to school until
their temperature has been normal for 24 hrs following a fever.
