Weekly Update

September 11, 2026

Week 3

In week 3 of school we have settled into routines and expectations have been taught across classrooms in the building. Students have begun our initial assessments for the year to determine instructional needs.

Curriculum Night

The DRES curriculum night is on September 24th this year. Families in grades PreK through 3 are invited to join us from 5:30-6:00 and grades 4-6 6:00-6:30. During this time the PTO will be offering supervision for families that need support in the gym. As with last year we ask that students only participate in this supervision during your scheduled time as space is limited.

Please use the form linked below to indicate need for this during the curriculum night.

Board of Education

This year I will be sharing more information with families on the Board of Education to help inform about meetings and other important dates.

This week we have our first meeting for the Deep River Board of Education on Thursday night at 6pm in the Deep River Elementary Library. The link below will take you to the district webpage where agendas are listed for the meetings of The Chester, Deep River, Essex, Region 4 and Supervision board meetings.

Dismissal

We have started to settle in to our new dismissal routines. On the playground, as a reminder, we ask families to attend to their children once they have dismissed from the building and ensure they are practicing safe play and kind words!

Fundraiser!

Our yearly fundraiser starts Today!  Every student who's selling needs to be registered — it takes about a minute and creates their own online store. That's how purchases turn into money for DEEP RIVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

PTO News

Happy Friday Eagles!

We want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has filled out their directory and Birthday Book papers! There has been an amazing response in such a short period of time. Reminder directory forms are due by September 22nd, so please get those in as soon as you can.

We have received a large number of parent volunteers on the directory forms. Over the next few weeks we are going to organize the groups and will reach out to all of you to let you know who the chair for each committee will be. Grade Parents will be notified within the next few weeks so that way you can connect with Jillian and/or Kate to learn more about your roles for the year.

While there may not be a dunk tank at Deep River Day this year we will still be hosting a small kid game and selling DRES swag. We will also be hosting a small bracelet making station for $2.00 a bracelet. Stop by and see us at the table, we would love to see as many of you as possible.

Our spirit sale is off to a great start and we have a decent number of orders in. There is one week left so place your orders now before it is too late! DRES Spirit Wear Sale

There is an exciting new fundraiser on the books for the PTO. We will be hosting Fall mini photo sessions. Each session is 15 minutes long and the family will get 5 digital photos sent to their email. See attached flier for more detail. Sign up for your spot today at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0945ACAD2EA5FACF8-65777753-mini.

Have a great weekend!
